So, you’ve taken the leap and activated thousands of game-changing IoT devices with a Pelion IoT SIM—great decision! Now comes the fun part: keeping track of everything.
You might want to know:
When did a device last connect?
How much data has it used?
Is it downloading firmware updates, or, just maybe, has its SIM been borrowed for streaming a live match during an 8-hour train ride? (We’re pretty sure that would’ve been smoother if they’d used Pelion’s high-speed passenger Wi-Fi. But hey, not everyone knows we’re the behind-the-scenes Wi-Fi heroes for Avanti.)
Understanding your device data is key to keeping your operations running smoothly. Pelion’s reporting tools give you full visibility into SIM usage, device status, and more, so you can monitor everything efficiently and manage your costs.
Dive into the data and learn how to:
View detailed SIM statistics
To get started, head to the Statistics tab in the left-hand navigation. You’ll see a range of data points and usage details about your devices. Here’s what you can explore:
Data and Sessions: See how much data has been used and how many sessions occurred within a specific date range.
Data by SIMs: Get a quick look at your top 30 highest usage SIMs in the current billing cycle.
Data Usage by Protocol: Find out how much data has been used by each protocol.
Data Usage by IP: Understand data consumption by destination IP addresses.
Data Usage by Direction: See how much data was sent or received across all SIMs within your chosen timeframe.
Monthly Data Usage by Tariff: Understand usage patterns by tariff, broken down month by month.
Total Data Usage: View total data consumption across all SIMs.
Data Sessions: View the total number of sessions involving data usage.
SIM Locations: If your SIMs have location metadata, you can see them mapped out.
Pro Tip: Some customers notice higher connection frequency and data usage right before a device starts malfunctioning. Identifying these early patterns can help you address potential issues before they become costly, downtime-inducing problems.
That's a trend we want to follow.
