Glasgow, United Kingdom, Wednesday 22 July 2026: — Striking images of Scotland’s Commonwealth basketball players have been released as the athletes make their final preparations ahead of the Games.
While this year’s competition gets underway tomorrow (Thursday 23 July), Scotland’s basketball players will have another 24 hours to wait before they hit the courts on Friday at the SEC. With the 3x3 Basketball format offering a realist opportunity for Team Scotland to create history, a medal win for one of the competing squads across 3x3 Womens, Mens or Wheelchair would mark Scotland’s very first Commonwealth games medal in a team sport.
Ahead of their debut new digital billboard artwork has been released celebrating the team’s partnership with Global IoT Connectivity Provider Pelion. The posters will appear on digital billboards throughout the city for the duration of the Games. Glasgow-based Pelion is now directly supporting Team Scotland’s basketball players throughout the Commonwealth Games and beyond, assisting with ongoing development and the creation and delivery of a modern, engaging national junior programme identity and digital platform to ensure basketball’s future success in Scotland.
David Fallon CEO of Basketball Scotland, said “To see our players celebrated across Glasgow in the week of a home Commonwealth Games is incredibly special. Our teams have earned the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in world sport, but what's equally exciting is that this partnership with Pelion extends far beyond these Games. It represents a shared belief that basketball in Scotland can grow, inspire more young people and build stronger pathways from first bounce to the international stage. We're grateful to have a partner that believes in that long-term vision and is helping us turn it into reality."
Pelion CEO, Dave Weidner, said, “I've been around basketball all my life, and since moving to Glasgow I've seen up close what it means to the people building the game here, including through my own son. There’s real momentum, but also a need for more consistency, stronger pathways and better connection across the system. At Pelion, we focus on removing friction and helping this scale, and that’s exactly what drew us to this partnership. If you get the foundations right, you give more people a genuine opportunity to progress, from grassroots through to the national teams.
“The Commonwealth Games puts Scotland's players on a global stage, and we're proud to be behind them, with the team front and centre across the city. This isn’t about short-term visibility. We believe in where Basketball Scotland is heading, and we want to help make that real.”
