Glasgow, UK — April 24, 2026 — Pelion and Basketball Scotland today announce a new sponsorship partnership, marking a significant step forward in the continued growth and modernisation of the sport across the country.
The partnership represents a shared commitment to innovation, community and performance, and will play a key role in supporting Basketball Scotland’s strategic ambitions at every level of the game.
Pelion’s investment will directly support: the preparation of Scotland’s teams for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games; ongoing development and support of Scotland’s National Teams across the Home Nations; and the creation and delivery of a modern, engaging national junior programme identity and digital platform.
Pelion’s CEO, Dave Weidner, relocated from Seattle to Glasgow in 2022 and has since developed a strong personal connection to basketball in Scotland through his son’s involvement in the sport. This partnership reflects both a personal belief in the game and a broader alignment with Basketball Scotland’s vision for the future.
He said: “Since moving to Glasgow, I’ve seen up close what basketball means to the people building the game here, including through my own son. There’s real momentum, but also a need for more consistency, stronger pathways and better connection across the system.
“At Pelion, we focus on removing friction and helping things scale, and that’s exactly what drew us to this partnership. If you get the foundations right, you give more people a genuine opportunity to progress, from grassroots through to the national teams.
“We’re not here for short-term visibility. We believe in where Basketball Scotland is heading, and we want to help make that real, particularly with a home Commonwealth Games ahead.”
David Fallon, CEO of Basketball Scotland, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Pelion for their belief in basketball in Scotland, and for choosing to invest in the future of our sport. This is a partnership that goes far beyond branding – it is about shared ambition and a commitment to making a meaningful impact across our game.
“Pelion’s support will be instrumental as we prepare for a home Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, while also strengthening our national teams and helping us build a modern, inclusive and accessible junior programme.
“As we continue to modernise and rebuild our sport, partnerships like this are vital. They allow us to better support our clubs, our communities, and everyone who plays a part in basketball across Scotland.”
The announcement forms part of a wider period of transformation and investment for Basketball Scotland, as the organisation continues to strengthen its foundations, modernise its delivery, and build a more connected and inclusive basketball community.
