John Chambers joins Pelion in the newly created role of Chief Revenue Officer. This appointment comes just months after the significant growth equity investment made by Scottish Equity Partners into Pelion and furthers the ambitious growth plans of the Glasgow-based Internet of Things (IoT) mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

Chambers joins Pelion from KORE Wireless where he was part of the senior leadership team holding vice president positions for sales & pre-sales as well as sales leadership roles across the EMEA & APAC regions, since 2019. John also held various leadership roles at PTC Inc. (ThingWorx) and has led teams in public, private and start-up companies with a successful track record in the telecoms, IoT and enterprise software space.

On the appointment, John Chambers says, “Pelion is renowned in its home markets for technical excellence and customer support, bringing a co-creation mindset to how we invent and innovate. This brings a significant strategic advantage in combination with our 5G and eSIM solutions in Europe and North America. I look forward to leading the innovative growth and scaling of Pelion as CRO, in support of our customers, channels and developer community”.

The chief revenue officer role aligns the sales, account management and marketing functions within the same group under John Chambers. The new combined group will benefit from tighter GTM alignment and an emphasis on customer outcomes. As chief revenue officer, John will lead the new group with a remit to create a scalable commercial sales and marketing function to meet Pelion’s ambitions to become an IoT connectivity market leader.

“John brings to Pelion over 15 years of leadership experience in telecoms and IoT leading high performing go-to-market organisations with a proven track record in growing business,” says Pelion CEO, Dave Weidner. “We are confident in his ability to help scale our revenue growth in the years to come.”

Pelion originated as IoT MVNO Stream Technologies in 2000. After being acquired by Arm in 2018, Pelion became fully independent and focused on cellular connectivity again in 2022.
